Dr Polash Adhikari is a specialist in rural medicine with advanced training in emergency medicine, and three decades of experience across Australia and Papua New Guinea. He completed his medical degree in Papua New Guinea, a foundation that gave him early, formative experience in resource-constrained care and a lasting connection to the region he continues to serve today. His career has been shaped as much by setbacks as by success — years of clinical practice that have taught him resilience, humility, and a deep belief that healthcare is ultimately about people looking after people.

 

He currently serves as Clinical Director of the Kallangur Satellite Health Centre and as an Emergency Medicine Consultant at The Prince Charles Hospital, within Metro North Health, Queensland, leading a team of urgent care clinicians. He is guided daily by a simple discipline: learn something new, teach someone on the team something new, and find one way to be a little better than the day before — and to build that same habit in others.

 

Beyond the clinic, he brings this same spirit to governance and advisory work with CPL Health Services, supporting clinical governance and accreditation across a multi-site clinic network in Papua New Guinea. He holds Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) with Advanced Specialised Training in Emergency Medicine, and an Advanced Diploma in Emergency Medicine from ACEM — credentials that sit behind a broader mission: building teams and systems that stay compassionate and adaptable, even where resources are stretched thin.
