The supermarket brand of PNG’s leading and largest retailer, CPL Group, has announced the first major prize winner for its Christmas Scratch-to-Win competition.

Mr Christopher Atbo, 33, from the East Sepik Province had scratched the winning card on a normal shopping trip at the supermarket’s Rainbow outlet, yesterday (30November).

“I am still in a state of shock! Wow, CPL, Wow! This was just a regular shopping trip as I shop there all the time, as its close to where I live,” said Mr Atbo.

Mr Atbo, who lives in Port Moresby’s Rainbow Estates, has an Engineering background, and runs an SME that engages youths from the neighboring Gerehu surburbs, located in the Moresby Northwest electorate.

The Christmas Scratch-to-Win Competition is currently running at all Stop & Shop (SNS) and Hardware Haus stores nationwide.

“We are rewarding our most loyal customers and Mr Atbo happens to be one of them. He is a regular shopper at SNS Rainbow and this prize is befitting to his loyalty,” said Mr Nazar Shaffee, CPL Group’s General Manager for Finance.

Mr Atbo had bought groceries at the Rainbow SNS to the tune of K200 where he received the Scratch-to-Win cards. One of those was the lucky winning card to the brand new and spacious Nissan Urvan 15-seater bus.

“I am yet to get a driver’s license- so I cannot drive BUT this win is reason enough to get some driving lessons and get one. We will definitely use the bus for my SME and to serve my family. I am thankful for CPL and SNS to support their customers through this Christmas competition and also the many community programs and organizations, SMEs and charities,” said Mr Atbo.

Customers will spend a minimum of K30 at SNS stores while a minimum of K100 purchases for Hardware Haus to be eligible to receive scratch cards to win over 60,000 prizes.

“This is one way of saying thank you to our loyal customers with prizes worth over K500,000. We currently have this competition running with one more vehicle to win. We also have the Vax-to-Win a Nissan Patrol with WR Carpenters concurrently this festive season. We are also mindful of COVID-19 restrictions and we have introduced an online shopping app, called PGO!, for customers to shop and have their shopping delivered to their doors,” said Mr. Shaffee.
