CPL Group’s charitable arm, CPL Foundation, launches Cyber Sawe PNG School Holiday Training for Internet safety
The Cyber Sawe PNG workshop was held for four days which coincided with the Easter School Holidays at the Datec Learning Centre, inside Telikom Rumana building.

The workshop saw a great turn out of more than 100 students from ages 6-16 who successfully completed the training and were awarded with the Certificate of Participation.
Supported by expert Australian community Computer Science organization, SecuriDay, the Cyber Sawe PNG workshop is a first-of-its-kind training focused on raising awareness on the safe and informed use of the internet.
CPL Group CEO Navin Raju said, “CPL Group is keen to support our younger generation to better understand internet/cyber safety to be able to protect themselves when surfing the internet.”
He furthermore expressed that it is one of CPL Group’s values is to be responsible to the people, communities and environment of Papua New Guinea.
“The internet is one environment that children need guidance in exploring. CPL Group takes pride in this contribution to nation building in nurturing young minds as one aspect ofnational and local development,” said Mr Raju.
Kids SecuriDay Team leader, Ms Heidi Winter leads the group of the 7-member cyber Expertise team who work in the Australian IT industry and in academia.
“This is an awareness to build strong skill sets and its importance on how to best use the Internet and hi-tech. We have workshop topics covered for children, tennagers and adults,” said Ms Winter.
The topic of the training is designed to build confidence and savvy in internet security and computing.
Following the launch, registered participants from ages of 6 -16 years old will undergo 4 days’ workshop during the Easter School holidays on the 12th-15th of April.
“CPL Foundation has received large positive feedback from the public, with over 300 applicants but, unfortunately, we have a quota. We have documented all the applicants and do plan to have additional programmes this year with the same content.,” said Mr Raju.
