Category Manager – Pharmacy

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify growth opportunities by analysing market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities.
  • Curate and maintain an optimal product mix for the pharmacy category.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source quality products that meet customer demands.
  • Establish competitive pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Plan and execute promotional campaigns to drive sales and enhance brand awareness.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, covering pricing, delivery, and marketing support.
  • Build strong relationships with current suppliers and identify new partnership opportunities.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing excess stock.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely replenishments.
  • Analyse sales performance and generate actionable insights.
  • Prepare regular reports to evaluate category pertormance against set targets.
  • Work closely with marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to align strategies.
  • Guide store teams on category-specific initiatives to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and minimize expired stock to maintain quality and compliance standards.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in category management, buying, or a similar role, preferably in pharmacy or retail.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and regulatory requirements (preferred).
  • Proficiency in data analysis, MS Excel, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on business growth and meeting deadlines.
  • Bonus: Experience in healthcare or pharmaceuticals and knowledge of tender regulations or
    FMCG processes.
