CPL Foundation Renews Long-time Sponsorship Of CPL Rebels Netball Club

CPL FOUNDATION SPONSORS EQUIPMENT TO RENEW LONG HELD TIES WITH LOCAL NETBALL CLUB

Rebels Netball Club and CPL Group have renewed a partnership that has spanned over 25 years since the early 1990s.

This partnership, through the Retailer’s charitable arm, CPL Foundation, supports the CPL Rebels Netball Club through a sponsorship deal that covers equipment and administrative costs of the community sports club.

” The COVID-19 pandemic hit not only on the health and economics side but also the sports and recreation aspects of lives the world over. So we have not been able to support these avenues that build communities.

The City Pharmacy rebels are some of our long time partners of the CPL Group’s community obligations to sports, and the CPL Foundation is proud to support and continue the empowerment of women through sports,” said Sir Mahesh Patel, OBE- Chairperson to the CPL Foundation.

The long-time sponsorship has borne some natural talent that represent the NCD and Papua New Guinea on the international stage.

Many of these national sports heroes, the CPL Foundation recognises as Barbara Penrose Stubbings, Veronica Weiang Marinama Maha, Lua Rikis and Winnie Mavara and National Coaches in Emily Taule, Jan Waddy, Oti Sarufa and Helen Edwards.

“We are a simple netball club but we are committed to building discipline and committment to our sporting craft, and thanks to the CPL Group and CPL Foundation, we have seen other places in PNG and the world.

I have coached young women, and seen them develop into holistically developed human beings being assets to their families and communities,” said Mrs Oti Lasagavibau- the Head Coach of the CPL Rebels.
